Pul Vela Crikva Square
Rijeka / 2011. / Mia Roth / Tonči Čerina / Iva Martinis
About project
The project equally affirms all historical moments of Rijeka, found in the site's layered history, without subordinating the present. The pulse of pedestrian flows, gathering spaces, archaeological displays reflecting Roman baths, remnants of late medieval walls
emphasized by caesuras and light, and medallions with 1,336 rosaries of 17th-century Rijeka residents are all presented without hierarchy. These layers are articulated through a uniquely folded single plane—a system of prefabricated elements that extends, cuts, and bends around the site’s historical strata.
