Delta Waterworld

About project

Rijeka does not intensively engage with its shore line due to a limited pedestrian access to the sea being blocked by the port. The Delta area is re-channeled to enable more humane living alongside a large park by the sea. The history of landfilling and channeling is the foundation of the plan’s concept: excavation on the southern part towards the sea creates the necessary urban space. Views of Delta from the city inform the design solution. The territorialization of the area is shaped by best lines of view from the city to the sea and from the new development center to the Baroš Port.
