Floating Roof as an Archaeological Fragment: Salona in Reflections
Zadar / 2023. / Krešimir Damjanović
About project
Beneath the reflective surface of the floating roof lies a fragment of the city, a mirrored artifact of ancient Salona. The canopy is not just a roof; it is a network of Platonic remnants carved from ancient memory and connected by steel. Layers of the past accumulate like a prism—sediments in contrast, steel in dialogue with antiquity. A circular network of packed- earth bases acts as an invitation. Shadows and light alternate between transience and permanence, while vegetation filters the rays, creating a microclimate. The roof is both a mirror and a barrier, a space for contemplation.
