Sport+ Bjelovar
Bjelovar / 2011. / Kristina Škrokov
About project
The largest silo of the 'Prerada' industrial complex in Bjelovar is transformed into the city’s indoor/outdoor swimming facility. The interior and roof of the existing reinforced concrete structure are removed, leaving the outer shell intact. Inside, swimming pool halls and a green atrium are created, resembling an inverted ziggurat or its negative. A light steel structure is added to the exterior of the silo, forming additional service spaces for the halls. In the broader cityscape, the silo, emerging from the park, is enveloped in a mist of human and bird activity.
