Pragrande Pula – A Wild Laboratory
Pula / 2024. / Matej Orkić
About project
The abandoned zone of communal gardens in Pula has created a hybrid ecosystem in collapse. A new bioretention area and water treatment system form an accumulation of diverse habitats, bridging the transition from wilderness to city. The interventions create new collectives of humans and other native and non-native habitat participants that adapt to seasonal flooding. The canal becomes a phytoremediation filter for urban runoff and a field for scientific research. The use of existing infrastructure, materials, and resources regenerates the cultivated landscape.
