Krajiška 20: Old/New/Empty
Zagreb / 2017.-2018. / Tamara Relić / Darko Latin / Diana Špirić
About project
The project involves the reconstruction and restoration of the existing modernist DTR factory with a courtyard extension. The intervention consists of 3 equal elements: the adapted existing house, a new building and the void of the garden, which becomes a new public square. Part of the ground floor of the existing house is opened up to allow a pedestrian passage from Kordunska Street to the newly created stepped square. In the 2020 earthquake, the existing building was significantly damaged, leading to a decision to demolish it. Now, an empty city space remains, awaiting a new decision.
