Community Center and Church
Rijeka / 2012. / Petar Mišković
About project
Instead of the assumed reconstruction of the community center and construction of a new church, the project proposes a reversal. The potential for transforming the existing community center building was recognized: by increasing the height and length of the hall and adding a low wing, the building is turned into an almost archetypal basilica. In exchange, the community center is housed in a new, adjacent structure. While the church section is designed as a central element of the site, the community center is organized around a hollowed-out central square space.
