Library and School Square
Krapina / 2015.–2020. / MVA / Mikelić Vreš Arhitekti
About project
A single volume and plane complete the block of a historicist primary school building with the addition of a sports gymnasium in the 1970s. The new school library, a transparent pavilion oriented toward the park, simultaneously completes the complex while acting as an autonomous entity in dialogue with the existing architecture. On the opposite, 'urban'; side, a red plane of the school square, embellished with graphic interventions, becomes an informal spatial framework for outdoor activities, fostering interaction between the school and the city.
