fortr(L)ess
Split / 2019. / Dino Bakić
About project
A fortress, historically a defensive space with controlled access, undergoes a complete transformation through intervention, losing its original integrity and identity to become a shell. It evolves from a homogeneous spatial monologue to a dialogue with its surroundings, which grow dependent on the fortress. The fortress becomes a city, and the city becomes fortified. Its function shifts with time, while the newly formed shape becomes as permanent and powerful as the original. This metabolized entity is capable of growth and transformation, becoming a palace alongside a palace.
