About project
When a hermit leaves society, their spiritual journey begins. Gradually constructing the ascent and shelter from prefabricated aluminum elements atop the TE–TO Žitnjak chimney represents a hermit’s mission to embody spiritual work. The chimney, an engineering and technical structure and a monumental vertical of mid-20th-century industrial processes, continues to operate but faces an uncertain future. Once decommissioned, its robust reinforced concrete structure will endure for centuries.
About authors
Damjan Brundić was born in Zagreb in 1996. After graduating high school, he initially studied physics but switched to architecture after his second year. Throughout his studies, he worked as a demonstrator in model-making workshops.
