Grandma’s Chicken Coop at Uncle’s Car Pit
/ 2024. / Jure Bešlić
About project
After the previous chicken coop, built from discarded construction materials, failed under an invasion of martens, a need arose for relocation and a more functional solution to improve living conditions. The proposed coop is built using charred wood planks (shou sugi ban), elevated on a concrete platform to prevent attacks from wild animals. Due to project rationalization and limited investor resources, the coop is relocated to a nearby car pit on uncle’s property, creating a surreal, distinctly Croatian architectural feature.
